WKNN – The Kids’ News Network
Did you know that each morning we start the day at MWES with a “live” TV newscast? 4th and 5th grade students work collaboratively to put on the show each morning. The following students remain on the Broadcast team from the last school year: Congratulations to our newest team members: Special Reporters: Madi Brown and Landon Wilson - Watch Dog Reporter Kyla French, Aylee Davis, Nate Montgomery and Ellimae Gooden – Core Essentials Thought for the Day - Joke of the Day * Jaidyn Wheatley - Friday Student Celebrations ****Beginning this year, our Broadcast will need to end promptly at 9:00 am to allow for our Schoolwide Character Education time to begin. We will still recognize special Braves on Friday that have accomplished great things!!!! How are students selected for WKNN???? In April, third grade teachers are asked to submit a list of students that they would like to recommend for the broadcast team. We are looking for students that are dependable, enthusiastic, and work well with others. I rely heavily on these teachers’ recommendations. After receiving the list of names, I then consult with the related arts staff, as well as Mrs. Lewis, to arrive at a final list. Just because someone was nominated, that isn’t a guarantee a student will make the team. Students remain on the team when they move up to 5th grade, and are still held to the same expectations. Being on the broadcast is a PRIVILEGE. Students must sign a contract, promising to maintain high standards in academics and behavior. If neglect of duty or no-shows become a problem, a student may be suspended from duties, or dismissed permanently from the team. |
