Some of my students may have vocational (work habits) or social goals they may be working on throughout the year. Weekly citizenship papers are used to obtain a percentage for each goal. Students earn “bucks” (pretend money) that they can use to shop in my store at the end of each week.
Students are rated by their homeroom teachers as doing an excellent (E) or satisfactory (S) job on their goals for the week, or they might need improvement (NI) in some areas. Different symbols are used depending on the age of the child. Intermediate students use the E, S and NI scale, while primary uses smiley, straight or sad faces. Up to $10 (pretend $$) can be earned during a 5-day week. Students may choose to “trade/buy” our new Brave’s Bucks with my $$$ on Fridays at checkout time.
I ask that these citizenship papers remain in each student’s planner for the entire week. I encourage parents/guardians to talk with their child each day about the marks they received on their citizenship papers. Use lots of praise and encouragement to promote positive behaviors and work habits.
If you have any questions regarding this reward/incentive system, please call or email.
